Environment Canada has ended the special weather statement for arctic air in the Okanagan and Nicola regions but several other weather alerts remain in place.
A special weather statement has been issued for the Coquihalla Highway and Okanagan Connector as up to 20 centimetres of snow fall is expected throughout the day on Monday. The snow is expected to be fairly light for the highways during the day, but it will become heavy at times by the evening.
A snowfall warning is also in effect for the Coquihalla Highway from Merritt to Kamloops as up to 20 centimetres of snow is also expected along this stretch. The South Thompson area, including Kamloops, is also under a snowfall warning as 10 to 20 centimetres of the white stuff is expected. The snow is expected to continue through Monday evening and then taper off by Tuesday morning.
The North Okanagan, including Vernon, is also under a special weather statement as Environment Canada expects 10 to 20 centimetres of snowfall from Monday afternoon until Tuesday morning. The same is also expected for the Shuswap region.
Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways, and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.
