(Original: 10:20 a.m.) - Drivers in the Okanagan might be held up as dangerous road conditions caused RCMP to take action on Wednesday.

The North Okanagan RCMP have temporarily closed Highway 97 southbound from College Way to Bailey Road due to extremely slippery and dangerous conditions.

According spokesperson Const. Jocelyn Noseworthy, it is unknown at this time how long the closure will last.

“Road conditions across the North Okanagan are slippery and treacherous in places,” she explained. “RCMP are reminding the motoring public to drive to conditions if you must go out.”
