April 2020 was very dry! The month of April is typically the third driest month of the year in Kelowna behind February and March, however, last month we only received a fraction of our average precipitation monthly total.

The Kelowna airport weather station recorded only 9.2mm of total rainfall and water equivalent of snowfall last month, significantly less than the seasonal amount of 29.1mm for the month of April.

We were almost right on target for temperatures last month at the UBCO weather station. April 2020 had an average of 15C for afternoon temperatures, and overnight lows averaged at 1.6C. These numbers were compared to the climatic average daily high of 15.5C and an average daily low of 1.3C based on the Canadian climate normals 1981-2010 data.

The first day of May will be sunny, but increasing cloud Saturday afternoon will bring the chance of showers by the evening hours when the next system moves inland.

Have a great weekend Kelowna!
