August 2020 weather wrap-up: Dry, but temperatures were seasonal

For the second month in a row, Kelowna received just a fraction of rain compared to the seasonal average. 

August 2020 received 9.1mm, compared to its August monthly average of 32.1mm.

As for temperatures, the afternoon highs were very close to seasonal conditions, with an average of 28.7ºC for daytime highs last month, compared to 27.6ºC.

Overnight lows were within a few degrees, with last month’s average at 13.6ºC, compared to seasonal temperatures at 10.6ºC.

All monthly statistics in this article are based on data from the weather station at UBCO, and the seasonal statistics in this article are based on the Canadian climate normals 1981-2010 data.

Although we have clouds to start this morning, it will be sunny and hot this afternoon for the first day of September 2020.
