Heavy snowfall is expected late this afternoon at the Coquihalla Summit, VSA Highway Maintenance reports.

A total of 15 to 20 cm of snow is expected overnight, with windy conditions between Hope and Merritt.

Snowshed protocol will be put into place for 5 p.m. and is expected to last through the night and into the morning.

Transit BC says that the Coquihalla Snowshed Protocol comes into effect when more than 15 to 20 cm of snow over a 12 hour period is predicted, and steps are taken to ensure uninterrupted travel through the corridor.
