Hot temperatures continue to affect much of the region.
According to Environment Canada, a heat warning has been extended in the Okanagan valley. This means temperatures should remain between 34 and 39 degrees for the next 24 to 48 hours.
"A strengthening ridge of high pressure will lead to rising temperatures across interior BC. Daytime highs 34 to 39 degrees Celsius combined with overnight lows 16 to 20 degrees are forecast."
Overnight lows should drop to 16 degrees. Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration.
"The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors."
"Watch for the effects of heat illness: swelling, rash, cramps, fainting, heat exhaustion, heat stroke and the worsening of some health conditions."
