Winter driving conditions are continuing on Hwy 97C (the Okanagan Connector).

The road has been hit hard by snowfall over the last 24 hours and photos sent to KelownaNow show a near whiteout at the Pennask Summit.

Webcam footage from Elkhart Road doesn’t look much better, as the road has disappeared under a blanket of snow.

This follows an alert from the B.C. government on Monday afternoon, which warned of a spring snowstorm making driving conditions treacherous on many Interior highways.

While winter tire regulations ended on March 31, it’s not a good idea to travel the Okanagan Connector and many of these other routes if you don’t have your winter tires on anymore.

On the bright side, the special weather alert for the Okanagan Connector has been rescinded and the snow should taper off by this afternoon.
