A special air quality statement is in effect for many parts of the province, including the Okanagan and Thompson-Nicola Region area. Air quality is expected to vary widely as winds, fire behaviour and temperatures change, according to Environment Canada.

It's currently 17 C and sunny in Kelowna on Saturday morning. Temperatures are expected to climb to 32 C this afternoon, with a risk of a thunderstorm early this evening.

Winds are expected to gust up to 50 km/hr. Lightning may occur, however no large amounts of rain are expected in the near future.

Remember to report any fires to Wildfire BC at 1-800-663-5555.

The skies will be somewhat smoky over the next couple of days.

A cold front is moving in overnight, resulting in a drop in temperature.

Sunday calls for a mix of sun and cloud, local smoke, wind and a high of 25 C.

Avoid any strenuous activities. Stay inside well-ventilated spaces if you have breathing difficulties. Talk to your doctor if you have a sudden onset of a cough or chest pain.
