It is absolutely freezing today by Okanagan standards.

In fact, Santa may be dealing with the coldest temperatures he has ever felt in the Okanagan when he visits tonight.

According to Environment Canada, the record for Kelowna is a low of -13.1 C, which was set in 2009.

Dating back to 1998, the record low for Vernon is -9.6 C.

There’s a good chance both cities will see new record lows tonight as Environment Canada says the temperature will dip to at least -13 C.

Christmas Day will be slightly warmer during the daytime before the mercury plummets again with a forecasted overnight low -14 C.

Hopefully there’s some wool socks in your stocking!
