March 2021 weather wrap-up: Very, very dry

We received only 2.6 mm of precipitation in all of March 2021

We have now seen three consecutive months of drier than seasonal weather.

In January 2021, Kelowna received only 43% of its seasonal precipitation amount.

February 2021 received about 58% of seasonal.

Last month, we received 2.6 mm, a fraction of our seasonal average of 21.6mm, or 12% of seasonal.

Temperature-wise, last month’s values were very comparable to other March months.

Our average daytime high was 11.2ºC in March 2021, similar to our seasonal temperature of 10.1ºC.

Overnight lows were also on par with last month’s average at -1.3ºC, compared to seasonal lows of -2ºC.

All monthly statistics in this article are based on data from the weather station at UBCO, and the seasonal statistics in this article are based on the Canadian climate normals 1981-2010 data.

No April Fool’s joke around here – the start of April will begin with a mix of sun and cloud with daytime highs in the low teens!
