For the fifth consecutive month, the Kelowna area has received low precipitation compared to seasonal values.

Our monthly precipitation statistics so far this year:

May is typically the second wettest month of the year behind June. However in May 2021, with only 3.5 mm of rain, that is only about 9% of seasonal.

Temperature-wise, we were close to average in May 2021.

Our average daytime high was 20.9°C last month, less than a degree above our seasonal May temperature of 20.2°C. Overnight lows were also close to seasonal at 4.2°C, compared to 5.4°C.

The first few days of June will feel like summer!

An upper ridge and warm air from the south will keep afternoon highs close to 30°C for the next few days.

All monthly statistics in this article are based on data from the weather station at the Kelowna International Airport, and the seasonal statistics in this article are based on the Canadian climate normals 1981-2010 data.
