Some much needed relief from the smoky skies could be on the horizon for the Okanagan.

According to Environment Canada, the current haze is expected to improve in the region over the weekend when the Air Quality Health Index could drop as low as five.

While a five is still considered to be a moderate health risk, it’s a noticeable improvement from the severely high levels recorded during the past week.

The Okanagan is also expected to see a few showers across the region on Friday night and Saturday, helping with the improvement of our air quality.

Despite the small relief, an Environment Canada air quality statement remains in effect across the southern half of BC.

However, the agency did confirm the air has “improved considerably” over recent days.
