Seems like summer is long gone, but it was only a month ago when September started off hot with a week of temperatures close to 30°C.

However, with a much cooler second half of the month, September 2019 daytime highs ended up being very close to seasonal.

Last month’s average highs were 20.7°C, compared to the September seasonal highs of 21.7°C.

Overnights lows were quite a bit warmer than the seasonal low last month.

September 2019’s overnight average was 9.0°C compared to the seasonal low of 5.9°C.

This was likely because of ample cloud cover through the night time hours, acting as a blanket and hindering significant cooling in the early morning hours.

After a drier than usual August, last month was wetter than average with 40.8 mm of rain at the Kelowna airport weather station, whereas the September seasonal amount is 32.4 mm.

We will see a sunny start to October thanks to a ridge of high pressure over the region today, however the next weather system will move in on Wednesday with increasing cloud.
