Severe thunderstorm watch in place for Okanagan

It may be a damp end to the weekend as Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the entirety of the Okanagan Valley.

“Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds or torrential rainfall,” reads the alert. 

The watch was issued just before 11 am because “conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain.”
