There’s a potential for stormy weather in the Central Okanagan this afternoon.
Environment Canada (EC) issued a “severe thunderstorm watch” for the region shortly after 10 am.
“Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and torrential rain,” the alert says.

EC added that there is a “heightened risk of debris flows” over areas impacted by burn scars from past wildfires.
The weather agency also warned of flash floods and water pooling on roads if there’s a heavy downpour.
The hourly forecast from FC says rain could happen at any time, but thunder and lightning isn’t expected to begin until the early afternoon.
It will also get a little breezy around noon, with southwesterly winds around 20 km/h and gusts up to 40 km/h expected.
“Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year,” EC warned. “Remember, when thunder roars, go indoors!”
