Temperature records were broken all across the BC Interior on the weekend after a heat wave settled over the region.
Kelowna, Kamloops, Penticton, Vernon, Merritt and other areas all logged unprecedented highs on Sunday.

According to Environment Canada’s preliminary assessment of the temperatures, new records were set as follows:

CACHE CREEK AREA (Ashcroft): New record of 40.3ºC; old record of 36.9ºC set in 2015

CLINTON AREA (Clinton RCS): New record of 32.6ºC; old record of 32ºC set in 2017

FORT NELSON AREA (Fort Nelson): New record of 31.4ºC; old record of 30.6ºC set in 1953

GIBSONS AREA (Sechelt Aut): New record of 30.2ºC; old record of 30ºC set in 2010

KAMLOOPS AREA (Kamloops Aut): New record of 38.3ºC; old record of 35.6ºC set in 1906

Heat warnings remain in place across the province today, with temperatures of up to 40ºC expected in some areas.
