Thousands of homes are still without power in B.C. as the southwest of the province continues to be hammered by extreme winds.
Gusts of up to 90km/h are forecast for tonight in the Fraser Valley, Metro Vancouver, Greater Victoria and the Southern Gulf Islands.
BC Hydro said there were around 27,000 customers still without power as of 6.30p.m.
“Crews will be working around the clock until everyone is back, and individual restoration times will be provided as available,” BC Hydro explained.
But the Crown corporation added: “Due to challenging conditions and extensive damage, some smaller outages will remain out overnight and into tomorrow.”
Environment Canada, meanwhile, warned people in the area to expect more wind-related damage to come.

“Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur,” Environment Canada said.
“Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds.”

On Vancouver Island, downed trees and power lines are causing blockages along Hwy 14.
There is also a possibility of up to 10 centimetres of snow falling in B.C.’s southwest.
