Hold onto your hats, the wind is coming.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for a few areas in the B.C. Interior.

“A very intense cold front is forecast to move across the southwest interior tonight,” says the alert. “South to southwest winds gusting up to 90 km/h will develop this evening.”

While the strongest winds will be mostly for higher elevations and mountain passes, the Okanagan Valley is still expected to see gusts between 70 and 80 km/h.

They’ll last throughout the night and start to diminish on Saturday morning, but the windows could be rattling a bit while you try to sleep tonight.

One positive is that it’s not colder and there’s no snow on the ground, as the high is a balmy 8°C today and it’ll stay well above 0°C overnight.
