Weather with Wesla: Cold week ahead

The type of weather pattern that we have this week can be quite stressful for a meteorologist.

When we see a persistent northerly influence at this time of year, it means it's going to be COLD.

This modified Arctic air is something that I have high confidence about - we can expect temperatures well below freezing this week, especially through the overnight hours.

However, what I am not certain about are the sky conditions.

We will likely see stubborn low cloud at times though the week because of an inversion that is setting up as the unseasonably cool air sinks into the valleys.

Small pockets of light flurries are also not out of the question as this cold air can't hold any moisture well and it precipitates, even though there are no significant weather systems in the forecast.

Best case scenario is that we will see some partial clearing at times in the valleys with a few sunny breaks so let's keep our fingers crossed for that!
