It’s a gorgeous morning in Kelowna, but the clouds will likely take over as the day goes on.

There’s even a risk of showers and thunderstorms later in the day, but don’t worry, there’s also a light at the end of the tunnel.

Summer weather is on its way back to the Okanagan and it’s coming with the vengeance.

“Enjoy sun on Friday morning, but we will see increasing cloud this afternoon with a low to moderate shower and thundershower risk when an upper trough makes one last attempt to create instability over our region,” explains Wesla English, KelownaNow meteorologist.

“Daytime highs will remain in the low 20s today. However, high pressure will build in this weekend and strengthen to bring back summer-like weather conditions. Expect temperatures to be back in the mid 20s this weekend, with highs close to the 30s by next week.”

As of 7 a.m., it’s 8°C under a mix of sun and cloud with a UV index of 1.

That UV index will get all the way up to 7, however, so think about slapping on some sunscreen if you’re outside today.

The pollen index will be high as well, so a little allergy medicine on the way out the door wouldn’t hurt either.
