Victoria police arrested a man early this morning after he reportedly asked them to help break into an ATM.
Two fully uniformed officers were in the 900-block of Yates Street just after 3 am this morning when they observed a man attempting to break into an ATM.
The officers approached the man, and noted that he had already damaged the machine. Police said the officers observed his continued efforts to gain access to the ATM for about two minutes.
At that point the man realized that someone was behind him. Without turning, he asked for help breaking into the ATM.
The officers then identified themselves as police and informed the man that he was under arrest.
The man attempted to flee, but after a brief struggle he was arrested.
